upcyte® Liver Sinusoidal Endothelial Cells
expanded primary cells

Liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) are highly specialized cells that form the scavenger endothelium within the liver. They exhibit extraordinarily high uptake of soluble waste molecules (< 0.23 µm), thus playing an important role in blood clearance.

The supply of primary LSECs is limited by the low and sporadic availability of human liver tissue and can only be kept for up to 1-2 population doublings in culture. upcyte® LSECs were derived from primary LSECs from a single donor. These cells have an extended lifespan whilst maintaining primary cell characteristics. This means that large batches of up to 3000 vials from a single donor with the same quality can be provided.

  • characterized, standardized, cryopreserved, assay-ready
UPCYTE® LSECs HAVE BEEN TESTED in our quality control FOR
  • cell morphology
  • viable recovery (>70%) and high plateability (>90%)
  • markers: CD31+, MMR+ (Mannose receptor)

Please see our download center with posters and publications.

upcyte® LSECs are provided in 2 ml cryo-vials with a minimum of 2×106 frozen cells per vial and are ready-to-use. Our cryopreserved upcyte® LSECs are at a later state in proliferation terms. Further expansion will lead to the cells expressing senescence genes and the phenotype is lost.

To choose the most suitable donor (LOT#) for your specific application, please write an email to . Currently we have 3 different donors available (#475, #462, #444). If you need any help – be it theoretical or practical – our specialists are happy to help and demonstrate in your lab the handling of upcyte® LSECs.
